2025/26 Opportunities to compete

Here at Curl Edinburgh there are a variety of competitions open for entry by member clubs and individuals, and a small number of events open to visitors. If you are not yet a member, but are interested in taking part, fear not, because membership is only £30 for the season so don’t let that requirement rule you out. Read on for more information about all these opportunities.

If you want more information, to register your interest, or to enter, please email us.

Cousin Trophy

For teams with male and female players.

Team entry, playing a mixed bonspiel (playing order doesn’t need to be as per normal Mixed rules).

The former Mixed League was relaunched for 2024/25 as a new Mixed Bonspiel, taking place during the weekend of 1st/2nd March 2025. The dates for 2025/26 are yet to be confirmed but we welcome expressions of interest before entries officially open. Last season had 8 teams, including players from England, Denmark, and Canada.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Team Keron. Congratulations to Rachel MacRae, Andrew Keron, Fran Stretton, and Ian Keron.

Crabbie Trophy

Open to all schools.

Team entry, for our national Schools competition on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th December 2025.

There is space for 16 teams to enjoy a three-round schenkel format before the High and Low Road Semi-Finals / Finals.

Our 2024/25 Champions were Elgin Academy (black tops), with Forres Academy (blue tops) winning the Low Road.

Edinburgh International Seniors Curling Championships

Open to all curlers aged 50+.

Team entry, for this high-caliber Seniors competition, to be played from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd November 2025. It is organised by an external committee, but if you email us about entering we can forward your message onto them.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Team Lockhart and Team Connal.

Friday Foundation League

For all members and local clubs. Register your interest here.

Individual entry, with everyone drawn into teams that mix curlers of all experience levels. This helps newer curlers to meet more members, and offers a chance for members/clubs to make themselves known to our beginners – hopefully encouraging more people to continue into club curling.

Our 2024/25 Champions (no picture) were Team 1 ‘Hammer Time’: Cameron Leaney, Chris and Mairi McDonald, Joanna Hull, and Nathaniel Melman.

Half Century League

For members aged 50+.

Team entry, playing about 10 games across the season, all on Friday afternoons (14:30 or 15:00 starts).

If you don’t have a team, but would like to be an individual on the reserve list, please let us know.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Team Anderson. Congratulations to Avril and Keith Anderson, David Cunningham, Jon and Ruth Addinall.

Linlithgow League

For clubs based at Curl Edinburgh.

Club entry, playing about 5-7 games across the season, all on Sunday mornings (10:00 or 10:30 starts).

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Carrington CC. Congratulations to Clare Lang, Fiona Spain, Trevor Dodds and Andrew Sommerville (not pictured were Tom Jarvis and Catherine Dodds).

Monday Ladies League

For female members.

Team entry, playing about 10 games across the season, all on Monday lunchtimes (11:45 or 12:15 starts).

This season’s league resulted in just one point separating the teams from 2nd to 5th, and two points separating the teams from 7th to 11th!

If you don’t have a team, but would like to be an individual on the reserve list, please let us know.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Team Florence. Congratulations to Jill Florence, Ruth Addinall, Catherine Dodds and Maggie Barry.

Open Pairs

For any two members.

Team entry, enjoying a competitive day of Pairs curling. The number of entries will determine the event format.

Our Open Pairs competition is an enjoyable standalone event, although the winners (or runners-up) also qualify as Curl Edinburgh’s representatives at Scottish Curling’s National Pairs Championship in March.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Paul Davis and Stuart Williamson.

Sellar Trophy

Open to all female curlers.

Team entry for our annual Ladies Open, to be played on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st January 2026.

There is space for up to 14 teams to enjoy a three-round schenkel format before the High and Low Road Finals.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, were Team Gumley. Congratulations to Kim Dalland, Madge Christie, Morna Aitken and Vicky Gumley.

Swan Trophy

For clubs based at Curl Edinburgh.

Club entry, for a Double Rink Knockout competition, played on a few Thursday afternoons.

Each club is represented by two teams at the same time, who play against another club’s two teams. The club with the higher combined score progresses to the next round.

Depending upon entry numbers, the winning team will usually have played 2-4 rounds.

Our 2024/25 Champions, pictured below, having now won three times in a row, were Oxenfoord CC.

Swing & Sweep

Open to all curlers.

Team entry, although we may be able to help individuals find a team.

Following a successful relaunch last season, our popular golf and curling competition, the Swing & Sweep, returns on Sunday 5th October.

The day will start with 9 holes at the nearby Carrick Knowe Golf Course, before all teams return to Curl Edinburgh for a meal, the curling, and prizegiving.

Last year’s winners, pictured below, were Team Davis (Jamie Rankin with Heather, Holly, and Paul Davis). Will they make it two in a row, or will we have new champions?
