80s Night for Neil’s Hugs Foundation

The following is from Shaz, one of our clubroom staff. She is hosting a charity night in the clubrooms this summer and would like to invite members to attend.

Hi there,

My name is Shaz and I work in the Bar and Restaurant of the Clubhouse.

I am organising an 80’s themed Charity Night for Saturday the 10th of June in the Curling Club.

There will be an 80s Disco, Karaoke and Quiz based on historical events, TV, etc. from that era. There will also be a raffle and tombola with some great prizes up for grabs. A buffet is included too. All money raised on the night will be donated to Neil’s Hugs Foundation (SC047055), a charity of which I am a trustee.

My good friend Donna set up the charity in memory of her son Neil, who sadly completed suicide five years ago, after many years of suffering from depression and addiction. Neil had turned a corner and was getting his life back on track, but some people were unwilling to let him forget his past and move on. Sadly, he became so overwhelmed that he saw no way out other than to take his own life. He was two weeks away from his 33rd Birthday.

Our aim is to provide help and support to families whose loved ones have either completed suicide or attempted it. We are raising money to buy a static caravan to provide respite for these families so they can get away from the gossip, gather their thoughts and grieve in peace.

So please come along and take a step back in time for a fun filled night on Saturday 10th of June, 8:00 p.m. until midnight. Tickets are £10 (includes buffet).

80s fancy dress is optional, but there will be a prize for the best outfit.
