Murrayfield Claims Second in Pairs Championship

Congratulations to Murrayfield curlers Niall Gunn and Nigel Patrick! The duo claimed second in the 2018 Scottish Curling Pairs Championship at Stranraer Ice Rink on March 16-18.

The team lost their first game but won the following three to finish at the top of the group stage. They faced down the 2017 champions William Smith and Wallace Gilbert from Greenacres in the quarterfinal and followed that up with a win over a team from Lockerbie to earn a spot in the final.

Sadly, they lost to Euan Kyle and Stewart Kyle of Stranraer in a final score of 5-2. “Euan himself having had near success in the World Juniors in Ross Whyte’s team in Aberdeen the other week, so good performance,” explained Niall. “Their combined age was certainly less than mine and probably Nigel’s too!”
